Updated 24 September 2026

Arete is a habit tracker for iPhone. This page says what the app stores, which services touch it, and how to delete all of it.

What we collect

Your account. You sign in with Apple. Apple gives Arete a user identifier and the email address you choose to share, which may be a private relay address. Arete uses it to keep your habits attached to your account. There is no password.

Your habits. The names, targets, colours, icons, weekdays, and reminder times you enter, and every check-in: done, skipped, the reason you wrote for a skip, and the changes the coach proposed or you applied. This is the product. It is stored so it is there when you reinstall.

Your subscription. Whether you hold Arete Pro, which plan, and when it renews or ends. Apple handles the payment. Arete never sees your card.

How you use the app. A fixed set of events such as habit saved, outcome recorded, proposal shown, and purchase completed, tied to your account identifier. These events carry ids and enums only, never the text of a habit or a skip reason.

Nothing else. No location, no contacts, no health data, no advertising identifier, and no tracking across other apps or websites.

What the coach sees

The coach is part of Arete Pro. The app asks before the coach reads a habit for the first time on your iPhone, and sends nothing until you allow it. You can say no and keep tracking and editing habits yourself.

Once you allow it, after you confirm a skip, Arete sends that habit's name, target, weekdays, last seven days of check-ins, and the reason you wrote to an AI model through OpenRouter, so the coach can propose one change. It never sends your email, your Apple identifier, or your other habits.

OpenRouter does not keep the text of these requests. Arete asks OpenRouter to route them only to model providers whose policies say they do not store requests or train on them. Those policies are the providers' own, so do not put anything in a skip reason that you would not share with a third party. You can decline every proposal and edit a habit yourself.

Who processes it

Apple, for sign-in, subscriptions, and notifications delivered on your device.

Supabase, which hosts the database and the server code that stores your account, habits, and usage events.

OpenRouter and the model provider it routes to, for coach proposals, as described above.

RevenueCat, which records your Apple subscription status so the app knows whether you hold Pro.

Nobody else. Arete does not sell data, and does not share it with advertisers.

Reminders

Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. They never leave the device and Arete's servers do not know when they fire.

How long we keep it

Your account and habits stay until you delete them. Arete keeps a coach request only as the proposal you see in the app, and under their policies OpenRouter and the model provider do not keep it. Usage events stay in Supabase until you delete your account.

Deleting your data

Settings has Delete account. It removes your account, every habit, every check-in, every coach proposal, and your usage events from Arete's database, and disconnects the app from your Apple ID. Your subscription, if any, continues until you cancel it in your App Store settings.

If you want a copy of your data or a deletion you cannot do from the app, write to hi@aretetracker.com from the address on your account.

Children

Arete is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so before the change takes effect. The date at the top is the last revision.
