Terms of use
Updated 24 September 2026
These terms cover the Arete app for iPhone and the Arete Pro subscription. By using the app you agree to them.
The app
Arete lets you track habits and record skips. Free accounts can keep up to two habits. Arete Pro removes the habit limit and adds the coach, which proposes one change after a skip that you can apply in one tap.
You need an Apple ID to sign in. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your device secure.
Arete Pro
Arete Pro costs $7.99 per month or $49.99 per year, in the currency of your App Store region. Apple charges your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
The subscription renews at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings. Apple's refund rules apply. Habits you created while subscribed keep tracking after the subscription ends; the free limit only blocks adding more.
Prices may change for new periods, and the app will show the new price before you are charged it.
The coach
Coach proposals are generated by an AI model from the habit context and skip reason you recorded. They are suggestions about scheduling and targets. They are not medical, psychological, dietary, or professional advice. You decide what to apply, and you can edit any habit yourself.
The coach may be unavailable, slow, or wrong. Arete does not guarantee that a proposal will help.
Your content
Habit names, targets, and skip reasons are yours. You give Arete permission to store them and to send the parts described in the privacy policy to the coach. Do not use the app to store content that is unlawful or that belongs to someone else.
Acceptable use
Do not try to break, overload, reverse engineer, or resell the app or its servers. Arete may suspend an account that does.
Ending things
You can delete your account from Settings at any time. Arete may end the service with reasonable notice. If the service ends, Arete will give you a way to export your habits first.
Liability
The app is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, Arete is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and its total liability to you is limited to what you paid for Arete Pro in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, the app will say so before the change takes effect. Continued use after that is acceptance.
